Our History
Our Journey of Excellence in Healthcare
Foundation (1934)
Founded in 1934, Deder General Hospital began as a healthcare initiative established by a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) to serve the people of Deder and surrounding communities. The hospital’s early roots are closely associated with missionary health services, including Mennonite medical missions that were active in the area by the 1950s.
With a strong humanitarian vision, the institution was later transitioned into a government-run public hospital, ensuring sustainable and structured healthcare delivery under the national health system of Ethiopia.
From its humble beginnings, the hospital was built on the core mission of providing accessible, compassionate, and quality medical care to underserved populations in Eastern Ethiopia.
